The major part of group discussions is to stay on the topic. The motive of the discussion is to give rise to a situation that is fair for all. If someone in the group is not happy about the conclusion, then the person who is in authority must take a stand and also use methods to convince the person in a formal way. The GD or group discussion is one major yardstick for companies nowadays to understand the true potential of an employee. Summing up the issue is another skill which a few leaders possess. GD also means a lot of attentive listening. It is just not right to correct others but you may very well be aggressive with statements.
A good body language with a lot of ease is very much important. Certain highlights emerge out during a GD and these form the main points of a group discussion. If you are being cut by a person you may well take it with a pleasing manner and continue your statement while asking the other person to allow you to speak. If you notice that a person is not given a chance in the group then you must allow or initiate the person to talk. This shows team work. The GD is about contributing ideas which are constructive and hence it is wise to speak well and just not think aloud.
